South Africa is exceptionally rich in birdlife, with around 860 recorded species—nearly 8% of the world’s total. The country is home to approximately 18 true endemic species and more than 25 near-endemics, making it one of the world’s premier birding destinations.

Including our other partner locations in Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Kenya, and Tanzania, this region hosts over 3,000 bird species —nearly 28–30% of the world’s total —with dozens of true endemics and many more near-endemics, making it one of Africa’s richest and most spectacular birding destinations.
