South Africa is exceptionally rich in birdlife, with around 860 recorded species—nearly 8% of the world’s total. The country is home to approximately 18 true endemic species and more than 25 near-endemics, making it one of the world’s premier birding destinations.

Including our other partner locations in Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Kenya, and Tanzania, this region hosts over 3,000 bird species—nearly 28–30% of the world’s total—with dozens of true endemics and many more near-endemics, making it one of Africa’s richest and most spectacular birding destinations.
